Mensa for more information about local testing
Mensa is an international society of those
who score at or above the 98th percentile on any one of a number of
standardized tests. Mensa has over 100,000 members worldwide and
chapters in more than 40 different countries.
Eligibility for American Mensa is based on a
qualifying score on an approved standardized test. Culture-fair,
non-language testing is available. The test fee for all tests is $40.
You must be at least 14 years of age on the date of the test.
Tests are given locally during the year --
see the column at right for upcoming dates. It is important to note
that the tests are given for the purpose of admission into Mensa and
not to quantify intelligence. A qualifying score indicates that you've
tested at, or better than, 98 percent of the general population.
The purposes of Mensa are: 1) identify and
foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity; 2) encourage
research on the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence; and
3) provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for its
members.
